Due to the growth of the club, WNC are looking for passionate and dedicated coaches to actively support their junior players. We are a friendly, proactive club looking for enthusiastic, positive people who are keen to pass on their passion for netball.
We would like to hear from either qualified and experienced coaches or those who would like to be supported in gaining a coaching qualification.
Please email email@example.com for further information.
On Sunday, 14th October, our U14 Regional Squad travelled to Paignton to take part in the Netball Southwest Seeding Tournament. 16 teams from across the SW region were split in to three groups to determine who would be playing in Division 1 and Division 2 for the 2018/19 season. Our girls, with two key members missing from the squad, knew they faced four tough matches in their group, but were quietly determined to gain their place in Division 1. The group results were –
WNC vs Team Jets 19 – 10
WNC vs Lovell Titan Warriors 20 – 15
WNC vs Saints Rockets 18 – 8
WNC vs Titans 14 – 9
These results meant our girls topped their group and automatically gained a place in Division 1. A great performance from the whole team – well done, girls!

On July 1st, WNC held our annual awards party. It was a wonderful opportunity for us to recognise the achievements of our players and also say ‘Thank-you’ and, in some cases ‘Goodbye’, to our wonderful team of coaches and umpires. The 2017/2018 season has been a great success for the club. Our teams have participated at both local and regional level, as well as at tournaments across the South. Eleven of our U13 and U14 girls successfully trialled for the Bournemouth and Poole local satellite academies, the first step on the England Performance Pathway. More recently, two of our players have successfully trialled for the Dorset County squad in 2018/19, while others have achieved their junior umpiring certificates.
Awards were presented to –
Meghan for Most improved
Erin for Players Player
Eloise for Most Improved
Kiana for Players Player
Esther for Most Improved
Holly for Players Player
Violet for Most Improved
Bryony for Players Player
Ella for Most Improved
Eve for Players Player
Contribution Award –
Awarded to Eloise and Justine, our junior coaches. They have both been with the club from the very beginning and over the last three years have volunteered their time and energy to support our younger players. In their time with us, one has gained her Level One coaching certificate and the other has become a C award umpire. We wish them both lots of luck as they head off to University in September.
We were sad to say ‘Goodbye’ to one of our founding coaches, Karen Goddard. Karen had previously coached with Canford NC and when we were setting up WNC, she took the leap with us. She has given so much of her time, energy and expertise to the girls. We will miss her smile and gentle encouragement. Thanks, Karen. Enjoy your Sunday morning lie-in’s!
Here’s hoping for an equally successful 2018/19 season!
U13 Blue Team
This weekend the WNC 2016/2017 netball season drew to a close and what a weekend it was!
On Friday evening, our U14, U13 Blue and U12 teams took part in the final fixtures of the summer league, the U13 Blue’s taking third place in their age group and the U12’s being awarded runners up medals in their section.
Saturday saw an early start to head to Southampton for the Dreams Tournament. The U13’s had a steep learning curve as they were playing a blended team from our two U13 teams. Although they came up against some strong opposition in their group, they still played with determination.
The U12’s were undefeated in the group stages but in their semi came up against the eventual winners, Hatfield. A very close game followed, with WNC leading at half time but Hatfield pulled it back to win by two goals in the dying minutes of the game.
Well done to EVERY girl involved this weekend. You are a credit to your parents and the club. We are very proud to say you are part of the WNC family.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!!!
On Wednesday, 31st May, our senior girls had the amazing opportunity to train with Eboni Beckford-Chambers at Canford Sports Centre. The Team Bath Captain and England Defender spent the day sharing her expertise with both the players and coaches. A full write up is here –
You can also watch a video of us in action!
Thanks to Mintridge Events for compiling the video and organising the training day.
Congratulations to our U12 squad! Last Saturday, they played their last match in the Hampshire Performance League, a 33 – 10 win against Lymington, securing second place in the league overall.
On Sunday, they travelled to Paignton to take part in the SW Regional Club Tournament and came joint third!
Today they took first place in the Jellies Tournament in Portsmouth facing stiff competition from Weston Park Blades, Fareham Fireflies and Jellies. Remarkable results from a team who have only been playing together as a 7-a-side since September.
Well done Ruby, Ellie, Daisy, Sofia, Elisa, Violet, Leyla, Amelia and their coach, Eloise.
WNC were very lucky to be allocated a Community Matters box at our local Waitrose in Wimborne during December. Our box was well supported by the shoppers and we were delighted to be awarded £360 from the fund.
Here are some WNC players collecting our cheque, alongside members of Gymstars, who also benefitted from the supermarket’s generosity. A massive thank you to Waitrose, all the shoppers who supported us and particularly Jasmine Barker, the Wimborne Waitrose Community Champion.
